ULAB Students Get DEA Gold Award

ULAB Students Get DEA Gold Award

Twenty students of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) recently attended the Duke of Edinburgh’s (DEA) Gold Award ceremony at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Dhaka, says a press release.

The students received the prestigious award for recognition of their activities over one year under DEA. They had to take part actively in developing personal, social and volunteering skills, as well as getting a survival lesson through an adventure trip.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, presented the award to Imran Rahman, special advisor to ULAB board of trustees who represents the ULAB DEA programme, on November 19. British High Commission to Bangladesh Alison Blake hosted the ceremony program.

The Countess of Wessex congratulated the students and welcomed them as global alumni of DEA gold awardees. She also pointed out the impact of the DEA programme on young minds.

The DEA programme helps students in receiving scholarships from all over the world, getting preference in the job market worldwide, involvement with international organizations, as well as connecting them with the international network of awardees.

Development of life skills, negotiation, communication, problem-solving, presentation and scope to serve the community are some of the many intangible benefits of the DEA programme.

Among the country’s private universities, ULAB has the highest DEA enrollment. Students can receive three awards _ bronze, silver and gold _ as they progress through the programme. Last year, 17 ULAB students received the gold award.
