President assents to Bangamata University Bill

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday assented to the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University Bill 2017, which was passed in the 18th session of the 10th Parliament.

 Parliament on November 20 last passed the bill for establishing the university in Jamalpur district. In light of the announcement by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Education Ministry has taken the initiative to establish the university.

 According to the bill, the establishment of the university would improve the education, research, training and extension of different topics of science in graduate, post-graduate and different tier in the higher education.

DU inter-hall quiz contest begins today

An inter-hall quiz contest will begin at Dhaka University (DU) campus for the second time on November 30.

Dhaka University IT Society (DUITS) is organizing the contest. The final round of the contest will be held at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) on the campus on December 4.

“We hope that a total of 10 thousand students of our university will be participating in the contest," said DUITS president Sadekul Islam at a press conference at Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA) yesterday noon.

He said DU Vice-chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman will preside over the closing ceremony of the quiz contest while State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak will attend the programme as chief guest. Around 20 winners will be awarded in the quiz competition, said Sadekul. Flora Limited and Avira, a prominent technology based organization of the country and world famous anti-virus organisation are supporting the quiz contest, said DUITS president.

DIU signs MoU with 50 universities

Daffodil International University (DIU) signed more than 50 bilateral Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and 1 Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with top graded Asian Universities at 16th Asian University Presidents Forum (AUPF) 2017 held from November 21 to 23, says a press release.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Md. Sabur Khan, chairman, Daffodil International University signed the MoUs on behalf of the DIU. This is the largest number of MoUs signed in any international platform by the official delegation of DIU since date with individual universities, comprised from 17 countries, including, Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Cambodia, among others.

With the theme “Innovations and Foresight: Education Solutions for a Better World”, this year’s AUPF is hosted by Philippine Normal University, the National Center for Teacher Education, Manila, Philippines.

IUB celebrates EEE’s IEB accreditation

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a celebration programme on the campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka on Monday, says a press release.

The Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and Board of Accreditation for Engineers and Technical Education (BAETE) has awarded accreditation to IUB’s EEE programmes recently.

Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, chairman, IEB-BAETE and Vice- chancellor of University of Asia Pacific, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Prof M Omar Rahman, Vice-chancellor, IUB, chaired the session.

At the outset, Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, IUB made a presentation on the journey towards obtaining the accreditation and also emphasized the benefits of getting this accreditation.

KSA delegate meets DU VC

Ali SA Chauhdry, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arab Investment Group (ARIG), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman at his office of the university on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Kazi Muzammel Hossain and Abir Rashid, two local representatives of the company, said a DU press release here. During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking different development projects at DU with the financial assistance from Arab Investment Group (ARIG).

 The KSA delegate expressed willingness to provide logistic and technological support for development of electricity supply system at DU campus. He also assured the VC of providing fund for charities, the release added. VC Akhtaruzzaman thanked the guest for his visit to DU and keen interest in its academic activities.
