A falcon of a rare species was rescued from Gariar Par area of the city on Thursday noon. But the bird at present lies debilitated due to over bleeding resulting from injury suspected to have from gunshot on its wing.
Hedayet Hossain, a teacher of a school run by Underprivileged Children’s Educational Programs (UCEP), said Sumon, bus driver of his school, after recovering the bird from Gariar Par area brought it to the institute.
The bird might have been injured by the hit of gunshot of a hunter. It has become very weak loosing blood from injury and due to abstention from taking any food, Hedayet said.
After contact with the Barisal office of the Forest Department, the authorities sent Habibur Rahman, one of their staff, to visit the injured bird on Thursday evening.
Habibur Rahman also after visiting the bird said it was a minor hawk which became weak due to loosing blood from injury in the wings.
Divisional forest officer Abdul Quddus said they after giving the bird first aid arranged treatment of it at Barisal Veterinary Hospital.
After recovery from the wounds, the bird would be freed in a sanctuary.
