The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) governing council has asked the interested corporate houses to submit the franchise fee and a bank guarantee by August 30 if they want to acquire the franchise rights in the tournament. “We have got a letter from the BPL in which they have asked to clear the franchise fee and bank guarantee by August 30,” said Mizanur Rahman, the owner of the Sohana Group.
The franchise fee is BDT 1 crore and the bank guarantee BDT 4.5 crore Apart from Sohana Group, the other interested companies are Beximco group, Media com of Square Group, Index Group, Exiom Technologies Limited, DBL Group, BBS Cables, Bengal Communications Limited, Networld Bangladesh Limited, Blues Communications and Fiber@home Limited. BPL governing council chairman Afzalur Rahman Sinha and member secretary IH Mallick earlier promised to take a stern step in plugging the loopholes of financial irregularities in the light of the experience of the past two editions.
