Wright still hopeful to play next round

Rajshahi Kings improved their rock-bottom position with the 30-run victory over well-placed Comilla Victorians following their back-to-back loses against Dhaka Dynamites and Khulna Titans.

The Kings, who finished their last BPL campaign with the runner-up, have left four matches so far in the seven-team race of the 2017 BPL, each of which are crucial for them to go into the BPL next round.

In the middle of their campaign, some of the players sustained injury that delayed their journey. Later they recruited Darren Smith, Daniel Bell-Drummond as the replacement of Lendl Simmons, who sidelined with hamstring injury.

It is a matter of watching that how much they could revived them to step into the top-four clash. But the Kings’ English recruit Luke Wright is enough hopeful to move to the next round of the BPL-5.

“I think the tournament for us have not been gone through so far as we still have some matches left,” said Luke Wright.

“We are coming from the very beginning game by game. The team showed a good run. I think the momentum is needed for us that is also important for us at this moment,” Wright told at his post-match reaction.

“Comilla is a very very good side. They have a lot of confident. We are bit of unlucky for injuries. Mustafiz and Smith played for Kings today. Hopefully it will help for us in the next games,” he added.  

Citing the innings of Darren Sammy as steeping stone of their victory, the English player said that Sammy put huge pressure on opposition that helps them to the end.

‘I think Darren Sammy obviously doing that thing made a huge difference. I think without that we just could probably make 160 at last,’ he said, adding: “I think obviously Mohammad Sami with the bowl was amazing. But I think Darren Sammy put up massive pressure on them which helped taking these wickets at the end.”
