RANGPUR: Agriculture experts at a function here laid emphasis on adoption of conservation agriculture (CA) technologies to increase crop production at reduced costs, reports BSS.
They were addressing the concluding ceremony of three-day training on ‘Conservation Agriculture’ at On Farm Research Division (OFRD) hall room of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) on Thursday.
Under financial support of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and technical assistance and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre, RDRS Bangladesh organised the programme.
The OFRD of BARI and Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) through the Sustainable and Resilient Farming System Intensification (SRFSI) project extended cooperation in arranging the programme.
Twenty-five participants including sub-assistant agriculture officers of DAE from Gangachara, Mithapukur and Pirganj upazilas, scientific assistants of the OFRD of BARI and field technicians of SRFSI project participated in the programme.
Deputy Director of DAE SM Ashraf Ali attended the function as the chief guest with Agriculture and Environment Coordinator of RDRS Bangladesh Mamunur Rashid in the chair.
Principal Scientific Officer of the OFRD of BARI at its regional station Dr Mazharul Anwar, its Senior Scientific Officer Dr Shameem Hossain Mollah, Scientific Officer of Wheat Research Institute at Dinajpur Shariful Bin Akram, Mithapukur Upazila Agriculture Officer Khorshed Alam, Agriculture Extension Officer Sadekuzzaman Sarker and SRFSI project Coordinator Rashedul Islam, addressed the event as special guests.
The chief guest said adoption of CA technologies at the farmers’ levels would become more effective in reducing farming costs for labours, fuel and irrigation, crop duration and improve fertiliser managements.
