A teenage girl of Madhabpur village in Ranisankail upazila, Thakurgaon, who was abducted on August 9, still remains untraced, police said.
Police and family sources said Tithi Rani, 13, a student of class-VII at Ranisankail Chopra High School, went out of home on August 9 for Ranisankail town and did not return.
They said on August 11, an unknown person phoned his father Madhuram from mobile no 01793848041 asking him to go to Kalibari, Thakurgaon, with Tk 50,000 to get back his daughter. When Madhuram went there and made a phone call on the number he was instructed to send the ransom money on mobile no 01796189991 and told him to go to Atwari of Panchagarh district.
When Madhuram did not get back his daughter he lodged a General Diary (GD) with Ranisankail police station on August 16. Tithi is the eldest among two daughters and one son of Madhuram.
Madhuram said: “I want to get back my daughter immediately. Twelve days have passed since her abduction, but the police could not find my girl.” Officer-in-charge of Ranisankail police station Shukumar Mohonto said they had taken the matter seriously.
