Hours after its enforcement, transport workers yesterday night postponed their indefinite strike in greater Chittagong until Friday (today) afternoon, reports UNB. Mrinal Chowdhury, president of Chittagong chapter of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation, made the announcement following assurance from the administration to rescue abducted transport worker leader Nurul Islam. He said they decided the put on hold the strike until 4pm on Friday as the administration assured them of rescuing the victim by then. Earlier, Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation enforced the strike in Chittagong, Rangamati, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban and Khagrachhari districts at 6pm demanding that the victim be rescued unhurt.
