BGB to confront corruption strictly on border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) would confront any kind of corruption through border strictly, said speakers at a rally held at Goga-Agrawulot madrasa field in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district.
On the occasion, senior officials of BGB said those who are involved with drug, smuggling and militant activities will not be spared. No Bangladeshi people will be allowed to bring cattle and goats from India through border. Indian cows, goats must be brought to Bangladesh by Indian nationals, speakers added.
BGB officials also said if any innocent man faces any harassment by BGB personnels, strict action will be taken against those involved.
BGB commanding officer of Khulna-21 Battalion Lt colonel Tariqul Hakim presided over the meeting while Jessore Additional Deputy Commissioner Mosharraf Hossain was present as special guest.
Among others, Additional Superintendent of Police Golam Rabbani Sheikh, Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Pulk Kumar Mondal, Sharsha Upazila Chairman Sirajul Haque Manju, President of Benapole Press Club Mohsin Milon, Officer-in-Charge of Sharsha Police Station Tasim Ahmed, Inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman Abdur Rashid, Hasan Firoz Ahmmed Tinku, Hadiuzaman also spoke on the occasion.
Train kills youth while listening to songs lying on rail tracks
Thakurgaon: A young man was crushed under the wheels of a train in Ruhia area in Sadar upazila on Wednesday night while he was listening to songs on his mobile phone lying down on the railway tracks, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Taherul Islam, 24, son of Azizul Islam of East Kujisahar village in Sadar upazila.
Pradip Kumar Roy, officer-in charge of Ruhia Police Station, said the youth was run over by a Parbatipur-bound Demu train nearby his house as he was absorbed in listening to music on his mobile set lying on railway tracks.
