Man to die for murder

Netrakona: A court here yesterday sentenced a man to death and fined Tk 20,000 for killing a man in 2012, reports UNB. The condemned convict is Rubel Mia, son of Mohammad Halim alias Sindha Mia of Mogalhatta village in Atpara upazila. The lone accused Rubel was on the run and tried in absentia. According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked Abul Mansur, 26, son of Siddique Mia alias Shamsul of the same village, to death here over land dispute on October 8 in 2012. On October 10, deceased’s father filed a case with Atpara Police Station accusing three people. Later on may 21, 2013, investigation officer of the case pressed charge sheet mentioning Rubel as lone accused.
