Mobile phone operator Robi saw a rise in revenue but drop in profit throughout first six months of the year, the company’s financial results said yesterday.
During the first half of the year, the company’s revenue increased by 4.9 per cent compared to the same period of last year, with data revenue growth of 128 per cent, says a press release. During the time, Robi added 2.1 million new subscribers.
Robi achieved operating profit margin of 37 per cent in first half of 2015, which is marginally lower than same period of previous year due to higher network expenses from continued network investments, and intense price competition, the statement said.
Also, profit after tax margin of 7.4 per cent is lower than the same period of last year due to higher depreciation resulting from investments in 2.5G/3.5G network expansion, the statement added.
