‘Dhaka give equal importance to every match’

Each team is focused more on their BPL games as points gradually became vital with the pace of the tournament’s progress what Jahurul Islam Omee, wicketkeeper-batsman of Dhaka Dynamites, like other players voiced over it.

Red-hot favourites Dhaka Dynamites will take on Rajshahi Kings in the day’s first match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket stadium at 1:00pm today.

Dynamites held their pre-match day practice session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground, in where Dhaka’s previous match hero Jahurul Islam spoke to media.

The wicketkeeper-batsman said that they give important more on every match as the points towards the end will be vital for each team to go into the next phase of the BPL.

“Points are now crucial for each team for going into the next phase of the BPL. So, we will play the next matches for winning,” said Jahurul Islam.

“In tomorrow’s match we will get down playing for winning because the points will be vital towards the end for moving into the BPL next slot. So, there is no chance to take any game lightly,” Omee told reporters.

But day’s second match will be the most-discussed fixture of the BPL because T20 specialist batsmen Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum will play their first match in this BPL against Comilla Victorians, the night-affair, which will be kick-started at 6:00pm.

Both Comilla and Rangpur Riders did their intense practice session at the NCA ground yesterday.

“We will be prepared fully when we will face off any team. We’ll know the weakness. So we are ready in that way,” said Comilla Victorians owner Nafisa Kamal.

“We have a depth batting line-up, which remains unchallenged. If they fall into any challenge, in that case, they will showcase their grits,” Nafisa told media.

Comilla’s Pakistan recruit Shoaib Malik, Hasan Ali and Fakhar Zaman are due to reach  Dhaka in the wee hour of today. In that case, a big chance might be seen in Comilla’s playing XI.

For this reason, the fight between Comilla and Rangpur turned to be a high-octane and will be the showcase of the current BPL. After Riders practice session, Chris Gayle spoke to media, where he said that they will try to get the team back in winning ways.

Though Rangpur played three matches so far, they won only one match that in their first match at the Sylhet phase. So, it is important for them to come the winning momentum back what is their main focus today.

“It is good to be back in Bangladesh and be a part of BPL once again. I am looking forward to another new team and in the first game tomorrow,” Chris Gayle said.

“Hopefully, we can get off to a good start to get the team back in winning ways. It is great to be among the squad,” Gayle said.
