RUET admission test held

The admission test of first year honours courses for the session 2017-18 of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) was held yesterday.

The written test for Ka and Kha groups were held at different academic buildings on the university campus from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm while free hand drawing test for the Architecture Department under Kha Group was held from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

As many as 6,464 students appeared at the admission test this year against 1,115 seats under 14 departments of the university.

Additional law enforcers were deployed on the campus to avert any unwanted situation during the examination.

The exam result will be published on November 27 that will be available at the university website (www.ruet.ac.bd). RUET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam expressed satisfactory for holing examination peacefully.

World Philosophy Day observed in DU

The World Philosophy Day was observed at Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday with much enthusiasm.

DU Philosophy Department organised seminar, brought out procession and arranged debate competition to observe the day.

Meanwhile, a discussion programme, organised by DU Philosophy Department and Govinda Dev Centre of Philosophical Research, held at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium.  DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman attended the discussion as the chief guest while Prof AKM Haroonar Rashid presented the keynote paper titled "Thoughts on Secular State". Earlier, a procession was brought out from the foot of Aparajeya Bangla at 9:30 am marking the day.

JU Nattayam gets new committee

Nattayam, a dance-based cultural organisation of Jahangirnagar University (JU), on Wednesday announced a 12-member new executive body for the next one year.

Rakibul Islam of Public Administration and Akash Sharkar of Drama and Dramatics department were made president and general secretary of the new committee respectively.

Associate Professor of Bangla department Rezaul Karim Talukder announced the committee at the annual general meeting of this organisation held at Teacher and Student Centre (TSC) of the university in the afternoon.

The other executive members of the committee include Vice-President Naziat Islam, Joint Secretary Krisna Shozzon Puja, Organising Secretary Al Amin, Deputy Organisation Secretary Farhana Bristi, Treasurer Antara Saha Laki, Publicity and Publication Secretary Samia Tabassum, Office Secretary Rawnak Alvi Raisa, Programme Secretary Assaduzzaman Ashik, and Deputy Programme Secretary Sneha Kawab.

Workshop on University Management Strategy held at IU

Institute Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised a day-long workshop title ‘University Management Strategy: Financial Management’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia at Bir Sreshta Hamidur Rhaman Auditorium on Thursday around 10am on the campus.

The university Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid-Askari was present the function as the chief guest with IU Pro-Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman and Its treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha were present as the special guest.

Director of IQAC Professor Dr K.M Abdus Sobohon presided over the programme while University Grants Commission (UGC) finance and Accounts director M Mizanoor Rahman, FCMA attend here as the resource person.

BRUR campus brought under CC camera network

RANGPUR: The Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) campus on Wednesday came under the network of closed circuit camera with installation of 10 CCTV cameras at important places of the institution.

Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah installed the closed circuit cameras by pressing digitised button at a function held at his office in the administrative building on the campus, said a press release.

Registrar Muhammad Ibrahim Kabir and officials and employees of the security section of the university attended the function.

Among the installed 10 closed circuit cameras, four have been installed at the varsity's two main gates, four at the academic building and one each at the central cafeteria and central library of the university.

Earlier, CCTV cameras were installed at the academic building and residence of the Vice-chancellor with a view to strengthening the overall security systems on the campus.

"Within a shorter period, closed circuit cameras will be set up at all halls and residential areas to bring the whole campus under strengthened security systems," said Professor Kalimullah.

IU convocation registration date extended   

ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: Islamic University (IU) authorities have extended the registration date of its 4th upcoming convocation till November 20 instead of November 15.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the convocation maintenance committee, said IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif on Wednesday night.

Details information regarding the convocation registration procedure is available on the university website at www.iu.ac.bd, he added. The convocation is scheduled to be held on January 7.
