DINAJPUR: Police, in special drives, arrested 21 persons including three alleged drug traders and two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different areas of the district in the last 12-hour ending at 8am this morning, reports BSS.
Law enforcers also recovered 159 pieces of Yaba tablets, 50 bottles of Phensidyl and 600 liters of locally made liquor during the drives.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested seven persons including three alleged drug traders with 600 liters of locally made liquor from at Sheikh Hati village of the upazila, Birganj Thana police arrested two persons, Birampur Thana police arrested two persons, Hakimpur Thana police arrested three persons, Nawabganj Thana police arrested two persons, Phulbari Thana police arrested two persons and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested three persons including two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
