Bhola: A fishermen was killed and two others went missing as a launch hit their trawler in the Meghna river in Borhanuddin upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Gias Uddin, 17, son of Abdul Sukkur.
The injured fishermen said ‘MV Farhan-5 launch’ hit their trawler while they were fishing near Uttar Bhatamara Alimuddin ghat in Boro Manika Union around 3:30am.
Some local fishermen rushed in and recovered Gias’s body from the damaged trawler, said Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Borhanuddin Police Station.
They also rescued three injured fishermen from the river and two fishermen went missing after the accident, said the OC.
Md Jasim, petty officer of Tajumuddin Coast Guard, said that they are conducting drive to rescue the missing fishermen.
Gias’s brother filed a case against the owner of the launch.
