Dhaka Metropolitan Police yesterday arrested the prime accused in a case filed over the killing of Manarat University’s third year BBA student Emazuddin Nasim.
The detainee, identified as Asif Sikder, was held from Comilla, said Kazi Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Police Station.
The detainee will be produced before the court today seeking police custody, said the OC.
According to Ali Ahmed Saifuddin, father of the deceased, his son protested betting over a BPL match and had an altercation with one Rashid near the Badda post office on November 5.
Nasim was attacked by Rashid and his gang the next day in front of the post office. Rashid stabbed him indiscriminately. Later, Nasim succumbed to injuries after being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Nasim’s father filed a case with Badda Police Station the same day naming three—Asif Sikder, Ramzan Ali and Abdur Rashid, and three-four unidentified people.
