Sylhet: A female worker was killed and four other workers were injured in a mudslide while extracting stone from a quarry in Jaflong of Goainghat upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Champa Das, 17, daughter of Ranjit Das, a resident of Shyampur village of Kaliajhuri upazila in Netrokona district.
Hillol Roy, officer-in-charge of Goainghat Police Station, said a potion of mud collapsed on a group of worker while they were extracting stone from the quarry owned by a local Jubo League leader Nanu Miah, leaving Champa dead on the spot and four other workers injured.
Later, police arrested the stone quarry owner Nanu, president of Purba Jaflong union unit of Jubo League.
