The second phase of the Saif Power Bangladesh Premier League football will kick off from today with massive challenge among the title contenders and among the relegation strugglers at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. All 12 teams are ready to begin the campaign to finish the league in accordance with their expectations.

Specially, the main combat will take place among the title contenders and the bottom placed teams, who are struggling to avoid relegations.

However, in the opening match the defending champions Abahani Limited will take on the newcomers Saif Power Sporting Club followed by the second match between runners- up Chittagong Abahani and Farashganj Sporting Club.

The reigning champions Abahani will face the challenge of Saif Power Sporting with whom they had a struggling 3-2 win in the first leg, despite the team is a newly promoted but remains in the title race.

Abahani Limited, to exhilarate their scoring power, recruited Sunday, who was the highest scorer in the previous league but could not play the first leg of this season due to injury reason.

Saif Power SC roped in a big fish with signing up Wedson Enselme of Haiti and a English booter Charles Edward along with four domestic players to insert more power in their front line.

Wedson is a very known face here in Dhaka, who has the highest contribution to make Sheikh Jamal champions in two seasons in a row in 22013 and 2014, returned Dhaka after playing one season for Kolkata Mohan Bagun while Charles is a British, who is also a forward, is eagerly waiting to make Dhaka debut.

No doubt, for every title contenders ‘Wedson’ will be a big factor, who is alone enough to make difference of any match, so it is very easy to predict that Saif Power SC will appear as one of the big challengers to win the title.

The second-leg will start with the Chittagong Abahani are on the top of the table with 26 points closely followed by holders Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club with 24 points each while Saif Power SC are just two points behind them.

There will be also a very hard contest among four teams to avoid relegation, as Farshganj Sporting Club and Brothers Union are the most bottom sides with six points each when Arambagh and Muktijoddha are just one point ahead of them.

However, Abahani made only one change signing up with Sunday while Chittagong Abahani also brought one change each with including Leonex while Sheikh Jamal just keep intact their line up making no changes, though five foreign booters were in their trial camp but the performance of none of the were up to the mark.
