Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 24 people including seven women from Gatipara border under Benapole port police station while they were illegally entering into Bangladesh yesterday.
The arrestees hail from different areas of Faridpur, Khulna and Bagerhat districts. They went to India in search for jobs.
Lt Col Ariful Haque, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh 49 Battalion, said on secret information, a BGB team conducted a drive in the area in the morning and arrested seventeen men and seven women.
Sensing the presence of the BGB men, human traffickers managed to flee away.
Later, BGB handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station.
A case was filed in this connection.
