About 4,000 students face great risk by attending classes in old, dilapidated and vulnerable buildings in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail district.
The LGED has identified the building as the "most vulnerable". But finding no alternative, students are compelled to attend classes in these buildings.
For this, there is anxiety among students and teachers.
Isadighirpar, Chatalbaid, Bhatkurachala, Haji Hatem Ali, Boheratoil, Gojaria, Ghechua, Bogaprotima, Betua, Koyamadhu, Nichintapur, Charibaida, Langulia, Hoteya, Chotomousha, Kalomegha, Rajabari, Bhuyaid, Haji Azahar Ali and Ghonarchala South governement primary schools have been identified as the most vulnerable ones.
The Charibaida Primary School building was declared abandoned in 2013.
Sayeda Yeasmin, headmistress of the school, said they are waiting for a new building.
Students are compelled to attend classes in the dilapidated building.
The number of students is decreasing day by day, she added.
Farook Hossain, headmaster of the Isadighirpar Governement Primary School, said the school runs in two shifts. The students are compelled to attend classes in the vulnerable building and this has made the guardians concerned, he added.
SM Nurul Islam, president of the Sakhipur Primary School Teachers' Association, said at least 20 schools have become vulnerable.
Accidents can occur any time.
The primary education officer of Sakhipur, Aminul Islam, said he has visited the vulnerable buildings.
He has already applied for reconstruction of the buildings to the higher authorities, he claimed.
The upazila engineer, Kazi Fahad Kuddus, said they have sent lists with estimates to the authorities. Work will start through a tender process after funds are made available, he added.
