Nooran Sisters back again to enthral audience tonight

Today, on the second day of the Dhaka International Folk Fest 2017, Nooran Sisters--two prodigy girls from a small village of Jalandhar--will perform tonight at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital. The amazing Nooran Sisters, Jyoti Nooran and Sultana Nooran, will be the final performers of the night. Their root music rocked the stage of Dhaka Folk Fest 2016 and they are back again.

The sisters were trained for 10 years by their father, Ustad Gulshan Mir, who is the son of Bibi Nooran, a renowned Sufi singer of the 70's. They performed at Baba Murad Shah Dargah, Nakodar, Punjab. Their Song Allah Hoo was instant hit on YouTube. After that more of their songs like ‘Tera Rab Ton vee Vadh Ke Deedar’ and ‘Mein Keenu Keenu Dassan’ played an important role in their gaining popularity. They got their first break in Bollywood with the movie Highway in 2014, with the music director A.R Rahman. After that they also sang in movies like Sultan, Mirzya, Dangal and Jab Harry met Sejal.

On the other hand, Baula Band from Bangladesh, Kutumba from Nepal, Mekaal Hasan Band from Pakistan and Shahjahan Munshi from Bangladesh have been scheduled to perform tonight at the same event.

The maiden performance of Baula Band in Bakul Tola of Charukala back in 2013, set the tone for what was to come from this Sufi Baul loving band from Bangladesh. The band continues their journey towards folk music, and maintaining the essence of Bangla folk heritage to the world.

With the performance of Kutumba from Nepal, the sounds of Bamboo Flute, Rain stick, Ghangla or Ghanti or perhaps some non-stop Dholak and Dumpha will elevate your heart to the sounds of Nepal. Acclaimed performers of the Coke Studio in Pakistan, will now be yard close to your ears; So that there could everyone feel the chills of the Nepali mountains in this early November of Dhaka.

Mekaal Hasan Band, in short known as MHB, was formed in Punjab of Pakistan in 2000. They quickly gained popularity as a Sufi rock band across the world. With back to back popular albums and hit songs, MHB took the Pakistani Sufi music scene by a storm.

Shahjahan Munshi from Bangladesh, a baul disciple, whose expressions have conquered the fascination of myriads of baul music lovers. His songs are expressions of the hopes and ambitions, the concerns, the ideologies of the masses; and while they are most certainly influenced by our classical roots.
