Enayetullah Khan’s death anniversary today

Today is the 12th death anniversary of Enayetullah Khan, founding editor of the daily New Age and editor-in-chief of the weekly Holiday.

Enayetullah Khan passed away in Toronto, Canada on November 10, 2005 at the age of 66. He had been suffering from cancer of the pancreas, says a press release. He founded the daily New Age as its editor and publisher in June 2003. He was also the editor of the Bangladesh Times between 1975 and 1977. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak for excellence in journalism. He was president of the National Press Club (1973-76) and the Dhaka Club (1984-85).

Bom on May 25, 1939 in Mymensingh, Enayetullah Khan was the third son of the late Justice Abdul Jabbar Khan, a former speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly.

USAID team visits BRRI

A seven-member team of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) visited BRRI on Wednesday. The team headed by David H Moore, general counsel of the USAID, attended a discussion held at the VIP conference room of the institute. BRRI Director General Dr Shahjahan Kabir presided over the meeting while BRRI Director Dr Ansar Ali delivered a presentation about BRRI focussing mainly on its outstanding successes. BRRI Director (Research) Dr Tamal Lata Aditya also spoke on the occasion.  Later, the visiting team observed BRRI Biotechnology laboratory and some of the research fields. David Moore expressed satisfaction after learning about BRRI’s current research activities and achievements ensuring food security of the country.

Group art exhibition begins

A group art exhibition on printmaking titled 'Nature Quest' will begin today at the Gallery Cosmos in the capital's Mohakhali area.

Gallery Cosmos organised the printmaking exhibition of artworks derived from a 6-day printmaking (Etching/Intaglio) workshop conducted by renowned Bangladeshi artist Rokeya Sultana and Uttam Kumar Basak, India, from November 3-8 at Cosmos Atelier, Cosmos Centre, Malibagh.

The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition on printmaking by 14 artists will be held at 6pm at Gallery Cosmos today.

Alvaro De Salas, ambassador of Spain to Bangladesh, eminent artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury and avid art collector Durjoy Rahman Joy will jointly inaugurate the exhibition as distinguished guests.

The exhibition will run from 10-23 November at Gallery Cosmos, Villa de Anjuman, House 115, Lane 6, New DOHS, Mohakhali, every day from 11am to 8pm.
