16 DU students get Nurul Islam Memorial scholarship
A total of 16 students from various departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded Nurul Islam Memorial Trust Fund scholarship yesterday for their outstanding academic results.
The recipients of the scholarships are - Joya Roy, Selim Rana, Tanjila Hossain, Gourab Chandra Roy, Amit Sarkar, Asif Ahmed, Osman Gani, Obaidul Hoque, Mamunur Rashid Zahid, Sumon Pradan, Kamrul Islam, Fazle Rabbi, Suchita Sarkar, Raminul Islam Rifat, Mirza Ashiq and Ishrat Jahan. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman distributed the scholarships among students as chief guest at the VCs lounge of the university, said a DU press release. DU Treasurer Professor Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Member of the trusty board Poet Ruby Rahman and Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Dr Md Rahmat Ullah addressed it as special guest. DU Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman conducted the programme. VC Akhtaruzzaman said late Nurul Islam was the founding president of DU Fourth Class Employees Union. He had dedicated his entire life to develop the socioeconomic condition of the common people.
The VC urged the brilliant students to make themselves worthy citizens by following the ideals of late Nurul Islam.
BSMRAU admission test results published
The results of first-year Bachelor of Science (BS) honours admission test in summer term 2018 under four faculties of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) was published on Wednesday.
The one-hour long admission test was held peacefully at the university campus from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Total 4898 admission aspirants appeared in the entry test against the 330 seats. The details of the result are available at www.bsmrau.edu.bd and notice board of the university.
DU VC urges cultural organisationsto go forward
Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman urged the president and secretary of all registered cultural organisations under Teacher-Student Center (TSC) to take the university forward through cultural activities.
He gave the advice at a view-exchange meeting with the leaders of those organisations at Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom of the university Wednesday.
DU proctor Professor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani, acting registrar Md Enamuzzaman and leaders of those social and cultural organisations were present, among others, at the meeting. DU VC said to ensure overall security in the campus, process of setting up security outpost at all entrances of the university is underway.
IU winter vacation rescheduled
Winter vacation of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia has been rescheduled due to convocation at the university.
The vacation has been moved to December 26. It was scheduled to start on February 6. The decision came at an emergency meeting headed by the university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari while IU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shahinoor Rahman and its register in-charge SM Abdul Latif were present. According to the fresh schedule, the vacation will be end on February 14. The more information about the vacation is available on its official web www.iu.ac.bd.
MPC-IBA hosts photography competition at JU
Media and Photography Club (MPC) of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at Jahangirnagar University campus have organised a nationwide photography competition on the campus.
The club already have asked the photographers to submit their photographs within November 15, said a press release yesterday. From the submitted photographs, a total of one hundred will be exhibited at Zahir Raihan auditorium of the university on December 2 to 4. Best three photographs will be awarded Tk 15000, Tk 10000, Tk 8000 respectively, the release added.
