A Chandpur court yesterday sent eight people to jail in a case filed for assaulting teachers and launching an attack on students of Bhuiyara High School in Chandpur over toll, reports UNB.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Razib Kumar Biswas passed the order when police produced the arrestees before his court.
Police also filed a petition to the court seeking seven-day remand for interrogating the arrestees.
Earlier on Saturday, some Jubo League activists demanded toll from the teachers of the school on the occasion of the National Mourning Day. On refusal, they assaulted two teachers physically.
Following the incident, the aggrieved students of the school formed a human chain and brought out a procession on Sunday protesting the assault on their teachers and extortion attempts.
