Schools at Dashiarchara

Teachers, students suffer much

UNB

KURIGRAM: Around 50 teachers and 800 students of secondary schools of now-defunct Dashiarchara enclave in the district have been being deprived of government-provided financial facilities as those mid-level educational intuitions are yet to be included in the monthly payment order (MPO) list, reports UNB.

With the materialisation of the historic Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) between Bangladesh and India, Dashiarchara connected with the main land of Bangladesh on August 1, 2015, paving the way for its residents of getting all state-run benefits including the basic rights.

Following the development, the residents of Dashiarchara enclave has witnessed an extraordinarily change in their lifestyle with the implementation of several large-scale projects taken up by the government for their socio-economic uplift.

However, around 50 teachers of the secondary schools of the area have been teaching the students without any salaries as the government have not regularised the schools yet.

As a result, the students are also being deprived of stipend, forcing them to continue educational activities amid high financial crisis.

Contacted, Kurigram deputy commissioner Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdous Khan said the district administration has already informed the matter to the concerned authorities.

“I hope the schools will be regularised as early as possible and the teachers and students will get all government facilities,” Khan continued.
