Curtain rises on ‘Dhaka Int’l Folk Festival 2017’ today

The curtain will rise on the ‘Dhaka International Folk Festival 2017’, one of the most-awaited events for the Dhaka audience, today evening at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital.

This year, 140 folk musicians from across the world scheduled to perform in the third edition of the three-day festival. Organised by Sun Communications Limited, the mega event will take place every day from 6pm to 1:30 midnight.

The festival will begin today with the performance of Bauliana from Bangladesh. Other artistes of the day are Fakir Shahabuddin, Mauricio Tizumba & Sextet from Brazil, Tenzin Choegyal from Tibet and Papon from Assam.

The artistes line up for the second day of the festival includes Baula (Bangladesh), Kutumba (Nepal), Mekaal Hasan band (Pakistan), Shahjahan Munshi (Bangladesh) and Nooran Sisters (India).

On the other hand, Shahnaz Beli (Bangladesh), Basudeb Das Baul (India), Rastak (Iran), Grammy Winner Tinariwen (Mali) and Mikael Hemniti Winther (Denmark) will perform on the concluding day of the festival on November 11.

Meril Presents Dhaka International Folk Fest 2017, the event is powered by Dhaka Bank Limited and organised by Sun Communications Limited, while other partners are-- Food Partner: Radhuni, Hot Beverage Partner: Ispahani, Logistic Partner: Bengal Digital, Associate Partner: Green Delta Insurance, PR Partner: Mediacom Limited, Security Partner: Aegis Security Force, Medical Partner: Square Hospitals Limited, Hospitality Partner: The Westin Dhaka, Radio Partner: Radio DinRaat 93.6 FM, Broadcast Partner: Maasranga Television.

To note, the security will be tightened centring the three-day folk festival and, the audiences, who will be coming to the festival, cannot enter the venue with any type of bags. For the sake of security, no entry will be allowed after 10pm. Moreover, there will be no parking facilities for the private cars.
