DU IB dept celebrates 10th founding anniv

 International Business (IB) department of University of Dhaka (DU) celebrated its10th founding anniversary yesterday on the campus organising  different programmes.

DU Vice chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the programme by cutting cake and releasing colorful balloons and pigeons in front of Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at the campus.

A discussion was held at the same place presided over by chairman of IB department Rakib Uddin Bhuiyan. Prof Akhtaruzzaman said “Our business will not be successful if our international communication and management will not good.” He hoped that IB department will play a vital role in making DU a model university in the world.

Register of DU Prof Kamal Uddin , Dean of the Business faculty Prof Shibli Rubayet Islam and founder of IB department Khandakar Bajlul Haque were present, among others.

Workshop on energy and power held at DU

A workshop titled “Applied Research on Energy and Power” held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday.

The Institute of Energy (IE) of DU and Energy and Power Research Council (EPRC) jointly organised the workshop.

Presided by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman, Prime Minister’s Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury was present as the chief guest. Chairperson of Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council Mrs Shahin Ahmed Chowdhury, member of SREDA Mrs Salima Jahan, vice chairman of Bengal Group of Industries Jashim Uddin, chairman of SUMMIT Group of Companies Md Aziz Khan and president of BSREA Dipal Chandra Barua were, among others, present at the programme.  DU VC Professor Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for conducting a comprehensive effort to develop renewable energy sector in the country.

He called upon the researchers to come forward with interdisciplinary approach to make this sector sustainable.

IU publishes Kamil examination results   

The results of first part and second part of Kamil (Masters) Examination-2015 under Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia were published on Tuesday.

IU acting Controller of Examination AK Azad Lavlu handed over the results to the university Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Rashid Askari, said a press release.

M Arif Mollah, deputy controller of the examinations, said a total of 773 students have passed in first part while 16,957 students in second part. More information regarding the results will be available on the university website at www.iu.ac.bd, he added.

Workshop held in BUET

A two-day long workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs)’ organised by Technology Transfer Office (TTO), BUET under HEQEP, UGC, Project began on Tuesday at BUET Council Bhaban.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prof Dr Saiful Islam, vice-chancellor of BUET was present as chief guest at the programme. Dr Gouranga Chandra Mohanta, project director of HEQEP and additional secretary to the Government of Bangladesh delivered speech as Special Guest while Sanowar Hossain, additional secretary and registrar of DPDT presented overview of the workshop.

The programme was chaired by Prof Dr Mohammad Arif Hasan Mamun, sub-project manager of HEQEP-4020 and director of IAT, BUET.

Two drug peddlers held at IU

Police arrested two drug peddlers from the campus of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Mustafizur Rahman, 25, son of Nur Muhammad, a resident of Vazondanga area in Faridpur district, and M Sajol, 20, son of Mokbul Hossain, a resident of Anondanagar village in Jhenidah.

IU Police Station officer-in-charge Raton Sheikh said based on secret information, a team of IU police conducted a drive on the campus and arrested the duo along with Yaba tablets and hemp, A case was filed against the duo, he added.

Career grooming session at IUB

A Career Grooming Session by IPDC was held at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) yesterday at its campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. The session was organised by Career Guidance and Placement (CGP) Office of IUB.

Naved Asif, head of Treasury, IPDC, Sayeed Iqbal, senior HR manager and AHA Shujan, HR manager, IPDC made different presentations on company’s history, HR policies and career grooming aspects for management trainees . At the end of the grooming session, IPDC collected resumes  from final year students and fresh graduates of IUB for recruitment.  There was an instant quiz competition to conclude the event.
