The fastest man of Bangladesh Mejbah Uddin left Dhaka yesterday for Beijing, China, to take part in the World Athletics Championship.
The week-long World Athletics competition will take place in Beijing from August 22-30. Mejbah is the only athlete representing Bangladesh while he will compete in 100 metre sprint. Mejbah took part in the previous World Athletics in Moscow while he took 11.13 seconds to finish the 100-metre dash. The preliminary and the heat of the 100 metre will be held on the opening day of the meet on August 22. The semifinal and the final will be held on August 23.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Chengis, general secretary of the Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) has already left for Beijing to join the World Athletics Congress and election to be held from August 18-20. He will also attend a seminar of Asian Athletics Association (AAA) and he will have a personal meeting with the senior vice-president of the AAA, to whom Chengis will request to help for providing an athletics coach to Bangladesh, specially, for sprinters for the preparing the athletes for the SAF Games in New Delhi.
