Police superintendent of Manikganj Mahfuzur Rahaman stressed on more active participation of community members and strengthening the community policing system to check different types of criminal activities and maintaining law and order in the society. He said this yesterday at a co-ordination meeting on community policing held at the conference room of the police superintendent’s office in Manikganj to review the law and order and crime situation of the district. He said community-driven policing system could play vital role in preventing social crimes and maintaining law and order. Bangladesh police have taken up the wards as the basic units for setting up Community Policing Forums (CPFs) to implement community policing, the SP told the meeting. The strengthening and empowering of the CPFs could play vital role in preventing crime and maintaining law and order in the community, Liakot Ali Khan Labon, president of Manikganj District Community Policing said.
