SUST teachers stage sit-in

A faction of teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology(SUST) staged a sit-in programme on the campus yesterday demanding removal of its Vice-chancellor Md Aminul Haque Bhuyan from his post once again.
They organised the programme in front of the central library under the banner of Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbudda Shikkok Parishad on the campus. The sit-in programme started at 11am and continued till 1pm and ended the programme following a brief rally.  Speaker at the rally said they will continue programme to fulfill their demand from next month. They suspended their programme at present due respect to the month of mourning.
Earlier, on April 13, 2015, a faction of pro-Awami League teachers under the banner of "Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikkhak Parishad" started demonstration demanding resignation of its VC Professor Dr Aminul Haque Bhuyan from his post charged against him of corruption, allegations of nepotism, and misconduct. At one stage on April 20, 35 teachers resigned from 37 administrative post and announced a list of agenda on this.
On April 23, VC called an emergency Syndicate meeting in the awakened situation and takes a two month leave.
On June 22 VC returned after a two-month leave to take office but teachers confined him in office and started sit-in programme locking the main entrance of VC office and continue still July 12.
On July 23, agitated teachers postponed their sit-in programme after a meeting with education minister in his office. But on July 29 teachers brought out a procession and rally in the same demand. And at the last, teachers denied back to office and announced to continue their demand.
