RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking responsibility for development of Rangpur and approving highest allocation for uplift of RCC for this fiscal, reports BSS.
The city mayor was addressing a press conference arranged at RCC Hall Room in the city on Monday afternoon to exchange views with local journalists on the development affairs planning of the city corporation. In his speech, the mayor said a proposal of allocating Taka 283 crore was submitted to the government for construction of 192 kilometre roads, 45 kilometer drains and eight bridges in the city. "The Prime Minister has already approved Taka 60 crore in a recent ECNEC meeting in the first phase against the proposal for implementation of 35 projects in the city including construction of 32 roads and three bridges," he said. "We shall set up a compost plant to produce 30 tonnes compost fertilizers daily through ensuing best use of the dumped wastages and marketing those to increase incomes of RCC and speed up development in the city," he said.
