BSS

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) will pass further order on a programme of Ekattor TV after examining the CDs submitted by the channel, reports BSS. A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order yesterday. In compliance with the order of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court private television channel Ekattor TV on August 16, submitted CDs containing video and audio clips of a talk show aired by the station titled "Ekattor Journal" to the Apex Court.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam submitted the CDs before the Appellate Division bench comprising Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana and Justice Hasan Foez Siddique and the court set yesterday for holding hearing on the matter.
The Supreme Court on August 11 asked the TV channel to submit the CDs containing audio and video clips of the August 10 episode of the said programme, which aired a telephonic conversation between two Judges of the Supreme Court.
Attorney General on that day said Ekattor TV on August 10 aired a telephonic conversation while broadcasting report on contempt of court proceedings against Janakantha editor and executive editor. "The Appellate Division has taken opinions from me and former attorney general Mahmudul Islam in this regard. After hearing us, the Appellate Division has asked the television authority to submit the video and audio clippings of that episode before the court," Mahbubey Alam said.
