28 ‘robbers’ held after gunfight
Twenty-eight suspected robbers were arrested after a gunfight with police at Nabinagr Bus Stand in Ashulia early yesterday, reports UNB. Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge of Ashulia police station, said that tipped-off that a gang of inter-district robbers is preparing for committing robberies, police took position on Dhaka-Aricha highway on Thursday midnight. At one stage, they intercepted a Savar-bound bus, coming from Manikganj. Sensing danger, the robbers opened fire on police prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a gunfight. Later, police detained 28 robbers and seized one foreign-made pistol, five bullets, two magazines, locally made firearms, 24 mobile handsets and Tk 10,000 in cash from their possessions.

Road accidents kill 2 at Ashulia
Two persons were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents at Ashulia in Savar on suburb of the capital yesterday, reports BSS.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Police said a truck collided head-on with another truck at Moragang on Bipile-Abdullahpur highway in Ashulia in the morning, leaving a youth dead on the spot and three others injured. Besides, a truck crushed a motorcyclist on a road in Jamgora Chaitala area, leaving him dead on the spot, police added. The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsies. Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Police Station Abdul Awal confirmed the matters.

2 held with 6,100 yaba
CHITTAGONG: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) during a drive arrested two persons with 6100 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Keochia village under Satkania upazila early yesterday, reports BSS. The arrested were identified as Kamal Hossain, 60, and Delwar Hossain, 30.
Based on secret information, a team of RAB seven arrested Kamal and Delwar with 6100 pieces of yaba tablets after raiding a residence at Keochia village under Satkhania upazila around 3 am Wednesday night.They arrestee were handed over to Satkhania thana police while a case was filed in this connection.
