IU admission registration to continue till Nov 10
The registration process for admission test into the first-year honours courses under the academic session 2017-18 of Islamic University (IU) will continue till November 10. The admission process began on October 15 last. The admission test will be held from November 25 to 29, said IU registrar office sources. Professor Dr Paresh Chandra Barman, director of Computer Center said a total of 33 thousands aspirants have already completed their application process till yesterday about 10.30am. Detailed information of the admission test is available on the university website- www.iu.ac.bd. Acting registrar of the university SM Abdul Latif said 2,275 students will be enrolled into the 33 departments of the university this year. The examination schedule will be published soon, he added.
RUET admission test on November 17
Admission test for first year honours classes for 2017-18 academic session of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) will be held on November 17. To this end, online application process has started from Tuesday) and it will continue till October 26, a RUET press release said here. Any Interested candidate for the test can submit his or her application through RUET’s www.ruet.ac.bd website Upon payment of requisite fees, the candidates can download their admit card from the website from November 10 to 15, the release added. Admission related information is available in the website. For any necessary information, any interested person can also contact to mobile numbers 01780-327250 and 01780-327350 during office hours from 9 am to 5 pm. A total of 1,115 qualified students will get chance for admission in 14 departments in the current session.
DU-Kunming University to exchange teachers
Dhaka University and Kunming University of China have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on exchanging of teachers, students, researchers and cultural team between the two universities, reports BSS. The consensus came when a five-member delegation of Kunming University led by its Vice-President Zhang Zuwu called on DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman at the latter's office of the university today, a DU press release said.
Other members of the team were Prof Luo Jun Yan, Prof Mo Nan Ming, Prof Chen Jing and Dr Fan Chuan Zhang. During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest, especially the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic, research and training programs by the two universities. The DU vice-chancellor said an excellent friendly relation between Bangladesh and China has been prevailing for a long time. He apprised the delegation members of a brief history of Dhaka University as well as its academic and research activities, the release said.
IU Hall Provost Council gets new president
Dr M Ashraful Alam, a professor of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies department, has been appointed as president of the Hall Provost Council of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia. He was replaced by Professor Dr M Mizanur Rahman of English department, sources at IU registrar office said on Wednesday morning. IU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari appointed him to the post for the next one year, said IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif. BAU students donate one month stipend to flood affected people Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) donated their one month educational stipend for the flood affected people. The students gave educational items and financial assistance to the flood affected people of Rajibpur upazila in Kurigram district recently. Initiated by BAU unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a total Tk 3,79,400 of 1,857 students’ one month stipend was donated to the affected people. The university family on Saturday gave financial assistance to 200 families and educational items to more than 400 students of the primary school of the upazila.
Workshop on self-assessment held at IU
A workshop titled “Awareness Building Strategies for Self-Assessment” was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday. IU Finance and Banking Department in association with Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) organised the seminar at the university's Business Administration Faculty. IU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rasid Askari addressed the programme as the chief guest while Dean of Business Administration Faculty Prof Dr Kazi Akhtar Hossain was present as a special guest with IU Finance and Banking Department Chairman Assistant Prof Sutap Kumar Gosh in the chair. Bokhtiar Hasan, assistant professor of the department, conducted the workshop attended by teachers and students of different departments.
Capstone Course-2017-2 concludes at NDC
The two-week long Capstone Course 2017-2, the highest training platform for leaders of all important sectors in Bangladesh, was concluded at National Defense College (NDC), Mirpur Cantonment, on Thursday. The ninth course has generated much interest among all the sectors of the national policy makers, an ISPR release said. Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, MP, distributed certificates among the fellows as chief guest. The minister congratulated all fellows for their successful completion of the course. In his speech Kamal urged the fellows to contribute in upholding constitutional responsibility in order to attain security and development of Bangladesh. Earlier, on his arrival at NDC, the minister was received by Commandant NDC, Lieutenant General Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy. Later the Commandant, NDC delivered his welcome speech.
