Waqf conference begins today

A two-day "International Waqf Conference" will begin here today to gear up activities of Waqf through the analysis of the rules and regulations of different countries, reports BSS.

President M Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the conference as the chief guest at Sonargaon Hotel in the city, said Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) Chairman Arastoo Khan at a press conference at IBBL tower in the city on Thursday.

Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), IBBL and Centre for Zakat Management are jointly organising the conference. Researchers, scholars and experts from Bangladesh, Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States will take part in the conference. Local and foreign researchers will present 28 research papers in the workshop.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith will be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
