Another incident of twin murder took place in Badda of the capital yesterday, within just 24 hours of the murder of a woman and his son in Kakrail. A man and his daughter were found dead in their rented residence at Moynar Bagh located behind Hossain Market in the capital’s Badda area. The deceased were identified as Jamil, 38, and his daughter Nusrat, 9. Jamil's body bears multiple stab injuries while Nusrat might have been strangled to death, according to police.
Police have detained Jamil's wife, Arjina, from the crime scene for questioning. No motive for the murder could be identified immediately. Officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station Kazi Wazed Ali said the double murder might have occurred sometime last night. On information, police recovered the bodies of the father and daughter from their rooftop residence yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, police have interrogated family members in connection with the murder of a woman and her son in the capital's Kakrail area. Sharmin Mukta, second wife of Abdul Karim, is being interrogated. She is an actress, the police said. Kazi Muniul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ramna Model Police Station, confirmed that Sharmin Mukta was brought for interrogation.
Krishnopodo Roy, deputy commissioner of police (crime), said: "We are trying to find out the motive behind the murder. No one has been arrested yet. The motive should be clear within a day or two."
On Wednesday evening, Shamsunnahar (46) and her son, Sajjadul Karim (18), were murdered in a house. Abdul Karim, a businessman and husband of Shamsunnahar, is the owner of the house. According to sources, Karim has several types of business, including a shop in the capital's Shyambazar area. A six-storied building next to the onewhere the murders took place also belongs to him. The police detained Karim in Ramna Police Station on Wednesday night. House guard Abdul Noman and housekeeper Rashida Begum were also detained. The police seized a blood-stained knife lying beside Sajjadul’s body. At this stage, it is felt the murders could be the result of family dispute and money laundering.
