A large number of patients including many children in Sonagazi upazila of Feni district have been hospitalised with pneumonia as unusual rain, sudden change in weather for the last few days led to spread of the cold related diseases in the district. Visiting Sonagazi health complex our correspondent found that over one hundred patients affected with pneumonia have been admitted to the health complex during the last few days. As Sonagazi is an area adjacent to the river, people often get affected with cold related diseases. They also get affected by various respiratory diseases.
Mosharraf Hossen, father of a child admitted to the hospital said few days ago his son got affected with pneumonia after it started raining. Monwara Begum, mother of Khadiza who was admitted to the hospital said because of unfavorable weather her daughter became affected with cold and fever. Later, doctor diagnosed it as pneumonia.
Ismail Hossain, doctor of emergency division said being affected with pneumonia more than one hundred patients were admitted to hospital. Half of them are taking treatment from outdoor. Md Nurul Alam, upazila health and family planning officer said although there is no scarcity of medicine, there are only three doctors in the hospital.
They are trying their best to provide proper treatment, but it is becoming difficult to handle the large number of patients.
