8th JU butterfly fair tomorrow
The “8th Butterfly Fair-2017 will be held tomorrow (Saturday) on the Jahangirnagar University campus. Department of Zoology in association with International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Nature and Life Foundation will organise the fair on the Zahir Raihan auditorium premises. Chairman of JU Zoology department and the convener of the fair Professor Monwar Hossain Tuhin disclosed the event through a press conference at Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association (JUJA) office yesterday. JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam will inaugurate the fair on the auditorium premises at 9.30 am.
Public lecture and seminar held at EWU
A public lecture on Bangabandhu and a seminar on Food Sustainability were arranged by the East West University (EWU) on the university campus yesterday, says a press release. The department of social relations of the university organised the public lecture titled “Bangabandhu Janabaktrita’. The lecture was delivered by Dr Muntassir Mamoon, Professor, Department of History, University of Dhaka. On the occasion, the speaker expressed his satisfaction at the acceptation of the historical speech of Bangabandhu on March 7, 1971 by UNESCO as a world documentary heritage. Prof. Mamoon also stressed how Bangabondhu first articulated his idea of Bangladesh as early as 1948, and how he is pursued his dream afterwards till it became a reality.
Besides, a seminar on ‘Food Sustainability in the Context of Bangladesh’ was organized by the Department of Business Administration of EWU and the Swedish Institute (SI) Alumni network in Bangladesh. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Md. Nazrul Islam, e- agricultural expert of the donor organization USAID.
Seminar on higher studies in USA Sunday
A seminar for Bangladeshi students who are willing to go to USA for higher studies will be held at a city hotel on Sunday. The programme, arranged by T&T Consultancy, will be held from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Nordic Hotel in the capital’s Banani area, said a press release. The seminar may an opportunity for Bangladeshi students to study in Webster University of United States, it said. In the seminar, the students will have to get chance to introduce with the authorities from Webster University, said the organisers.
Moreover, the authorities of Webster University will also attend another seminar at Hotel Agrabad in Chittagong to be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on November7.

Panel discussion on contemporary art scene in Bangladesh
General Education Department (GED) has organised a panel discussion on “Contemporary Art Scene in Bangladesh” on October 30 at Dhanmondi in the ULAB Auditorium, says a press release. The panelists were Nadia Samdani, Co- founder and president of the Samdani Art Foundation, Diana Campbell Betancourt, chief curator of Dhaka Art Summit, Mustafa Zaman, Editor at Depart- The Art Magazine, Tanzim Wahab, chief curator of Bengal Foundation, Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Eminent artist and Professor of English of ULAB and famous art critique Syed Manzoorul Islam. Mustafa Zaman, Editor at Depart- The Art Magazine moderated the panel discussion.
