RAJSHAHI: Youth leadership can be the vital means of making the local government institutions (LGIs) including Union Parishad (UP) effective and pro-people, reports BSS. This view was expressed in the closing session of a three-day youth leadership training by a host of speakers who urged all concerned to flourish leadership characteristics of youths.
Importance should be given on generating community leadership from among the youths to bring a qualitative change everywhere in the society. There is no alternative to training to enhance professional skills among the youths, the speakers said.
The Hunger Project Bangladesh organised the training at BMDA Training Centre in Mohanpur Upazila Parishad complex in the district yesterday afternoon.
British Council funded the project titled “Promoting Democratic Inclusion and Governance through Youths (PRODIGY)” supported the training. A total 36 youths including 20 female joined the course.
Joining the function Upazila Chairman Prof Abdus Samad put emphasis on equipping the youths with modern knowledge for making them worthy citizens. Time has come to generate more youth leadership in the society.
Enriching youth leadership along with their capacity building is the precondition to generate job opportunities, social development and free the society from gender discrimination and vicious cycle of poverty, he added.
