Customs officials on Wednesday night recovered eight gold bars weighing 800 grams from the stomach of a passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital, reports BSS. “We arrested a passenger named Abdullah Al Mamun and found 8 gold bars weighing 800 grams from his stomach at the airport around 10pm on Wednesday,” said Assistant Commissioner (AC) of customs Mohammad Saidul Islam. The estimated value of the seized gold is about Tk 40 lakh, he said. Abdullah came to Dhaka by Malinda Airlines from Malaysia at around 10pm on Wednesday. The arrestee was handed over to the Bimanbandar Police Station today after filing a case to this end.
