Two people, including a city corporation cleaner, were killed in separate incidents in the city on Thursday, reports UNB. The victims were identified as Abu Taher, 50, a cleaner of Dhaka South City Corporation who died in Basabo, and Md Sumon, 40, who met his fate in Bakshibazar. Police quoting witnesses said Abu Taher was part of the crew cleaning the road beside the Khilgaon Flyover at around 3:30am. Suddenly, a speeding truck knocked him and fled the scene leaving him dead on the spot, said SI Md Wasim as quoted witnesses.
Son of Moslem Uddin, Abu Taher was residing at the Dhalpur Colony. Meanwhile Sumon, a factory hand, met the tragic accident while he was going to Banogram of Kamrangichar from Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 8am on Thursday morning. Police quoting family members of Sumon said he had addiction issues. He was reportedly intoxicated on Wednesday night, which made him sick, or more in tune with the parlance, he was having a bad trip- so bad he had to be admitted to DMCH around 8:30 pm.
