International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Monday summoned a sub-inspector of Moheshkhali Police Station, Jahirul Huq, to appear before it on November 26 to explain why he submitted a report to the tribunal showing an accused who is actually dead as absconding, reports UNB. A three-member ICT bench led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam passed the order, after a hearing to frame charges against him and 17 others from Moheshkhali, of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
The bench also ordered the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Cox’s Bazar district and Officer-in-Charge of Moheshkhali Police Station to give a written explanation on this.
International Crimes Tribunal prosecution filed a case against Abdul Majid, former Member of Parliament (MP) Abdur Rashid Mia, and 16 others for committing crimes against humanity during Liberation War in 1971.
