Bollywood has finally come out of its bad box office phase. After Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2, now Ajay Devgn-starrer Golmaal Again has also been declared superhit. Not only this, Golmaal Again has also become the highest grossing Bollywood film of the year in domestic markets. Baahubali: The Conclusion, a film made in Telugu, is the highest earning Indian film of 2017. Its dubbed Hindi version made over Rs 511 crore at the box office. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Golmaal Again has earned more than Rs 167 crore in India.
The film directed by Rohit Shetty, has now surpassed the business of Judwaa 2 by a good margin. Before Judwaa 2, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees was the highest grossing film of the year.
Bollywood faced a really rough time in the beginning of this year when big ticket films failed miserably at the box office. In fact, films like Salman Khan’s Tubelight and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal didn’t make any money.
Among big stars, only Akshay Kumar showed some promise whose Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet Ek Prem Katha stood the test of time.
The super success of Golmaal Again will give Bollywood a chance to take a sigh of relief before it goes for another round of big films with Padmavati and Tiger Zinda Hai in December.
Here are 2017’s biggest hits...
- Golmaal Again: Rs 167 crore
- Judwaa 2: Rs 138 crore
- Raees: Rs 137.5 crore
