A special court in Jhenidah yesterday sentenced former BNP lawmaker M A Ohab to eight years’ imprisonment in a case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for concealing information in wealth report and amassing illegal wealth.
The court also fined him Tk 45,000 and ordered the authorities concerned to confiscate his wealth worth Tk 96 lakh, said Jahid Hossain, deputy director of ACC Jessore office.
According to the court statement, the ACC on November 11, 2008, filed the case against Ohab for concealing wealth information and amassing wealth illegally under section 26 (2) and section 27 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2008.
After examining all documents and witnesses, Judge of Jessore Special Court Nitai Chandra handed down the verdict.
