A restaurant owner was beaten to death at Paglahat Bazar in Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram on Sunday night over dues, reports UNB. Sultan and Quader called Tarequl Islam, 45, a cattle trader, to the bazaar after deceased Momin Uddin, 50, asked them to clear his dues, said Shilkhuri union parishad Chairman Ismail Hossain. Tarequl, who was drunk, locked into an altercation with Momin over the issue around 9pm. At one stage, he beat the restaurant owner, leaving him unconscious. Later, Momin was taken to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. A case was filed over the incident and police arrested Tarequl, said officer-in-charge of Bhurungamari Police Station Tapos Chandra Pundit.
