Stocks perform mixed on large cap securities

Stocks performed mixed yesterday with major indices finishing flat on higher activities of some large cap securities despite decline in the daily transactions, reports BSS.
The rising major sectors were pharmaceutical and chemical, ceramics, engineering and IT. A total of 103 securities of the large-cap group moved up.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 0.83 points up at 5,996.25. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 6.17 points up at 2,162.81 and with 4.58 points up at 1,310.52.
The days trade value at DSE decreased to Tk 509.63 crore from Sundays Tk 640.86 crore and the daily trade fell to 14.67 crore shares from 17.65 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the days 331 securities, prices of 152 securities closed higher against 140 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Salvo Chemical, Monno Ceramics, BD Thai, INTECH and South East Bank. The major losing companies were Hakkani Pulp, SAVARREFR, Meghna Condense Milk, GEMINISEA and MTB.
City Bank topped the turnover list followed by Shahjalal Bank, Lanka Bangla Finance, UCB and BBS Cables. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 20.49 points up at 18,561.49.
At CSE, 246 issues were traded. Of those, 107 closed higher and 113 closed lower when 1.08 crore shares worth Tk 29.13 crore changed hands.
