Local players of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) thinks that the intensity of the competition between team to team coupled with local and foreign players will be intensified more than the last four editions.
They also think that the local players obviously have to be mentally prepared to sustain in this competition with them.
BPL governing council this time fixed the limit of the foreign players for the franchisee teams. Under the current rules and regulations, each team could field the maximum five players and the minimum three players in a match.
This rule has been re-enforced to bring the more seriousness and competitiveness among players and franchisees along with increased the popularity of the blockbuster T20 Tournament.
“The competition in the ground will be increased more than the past occasions because more quality overseas players are coming here to play the BPL this time around. All the focus will be on BPL,” said Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, who will represent this BPL for Khulna Titans.
“A spot for the local players has been lessened due to the large number of overseas players. For this local players have to pay their more attention in their performances because they have to face big and quality players,” Rubel told media after their practice session.
“Actually when five foreign players in BPL used to play, local players also played well beside them. This time, local players have to obviously perform more than the past occasions. Those who will perform better, they will come to the front line. So those who will perform better it'll fine for them for their future,” he added.
He said that local players have to give more focus and improve their performance to outshine the foreign players.
“Some of our foreign players joined the team. We all held some practice sessions together. All we enjoyed it. I think, we will do some more practice session together prior to the onset of the BPL, the understanding among players will be better further,” This retention player of Khulna Titans informed that they set their initial target to ensure the top four stage and then break into final. For this, they have to start a solid start.
Anamul Haque Bijoy of Chittagong Vikings shared the same sentiment, stating that this BPL will be challenging more than the previous times.
He also said that they will try to demonstrate the team-wise dexterity and present a better brand of cricket for the team success.
“Our expectation is to play better cricket. BPL is the solid platform for both local and foreign players. I think it’ll be a very good challenging tournament,” Anamul Haque said.
“Our effort is to play better cricket. Hopefully we could be produced better result,” Bijoy told reporters.
Wicketkeeper-batsman said that Vikings has set their target to play in the final by playing better brand of cricket.
Vikings held their first practice session at the National Cricket Academy ground with their available local players including Suhrawardi Shuvo, Irfan Sukkur and Bijoy.
