Police arrested seven people from separate places yesterday in connection with Sunday’s attack on some school students allegedly by some Juba League men over toll, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Mojammel Haq, a student of Palkhal Degree College, Alauddin21, Md Sabuj,19, Ajiullah, 32, Md Imran Hossain, Monir and Liton. Additional SP Md Ashrafuzzaman said prime accuse Monir and Liton were arrested from a launch at Chandpur ghat today while fleeing to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Dulal Chandra Sarker, headmaster of Bhuiyanra High School, filed a case against eight named and 20 unnamed people in connection with the incident early Monday, said officer-in-charge of Kachua police station Ibrahim Khalil.
Some 16 students of a high school were injured in an attack allegedly by some local Juba League men at Bhuiyanra in Kachua upazila on Sunday. Locals said a group of Juba League activists demanded toll from the headmaster, Dulal Chandra Sarker, of Bhuiyanra High School on the occasion of the National Mourning Day on Saturday. He gave them Tk 1,000 to their dissatisfaction.
Meanwhile, the Juba League men went to the school on Sunday morning again after they came to know that the stipend money was being distributed among the students, and demanded fresh toll. They assaulted the headmaster as he refused to entertain their demand again, said teachers of the school.
When the students were taking preparation to form a human chain at the school ground at noon protesting the attack on their teacher, a group of Juba League leaders and activists appeared in the scene and beat the students with sticks, leaving 16 students injured. The injured students were admitted to Kachua Upazila Health Complex.
