Metropolis Premier Volleyball from today

Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF), eyeing to form a formidable team for the Bangabandhu Cup International Volleyball, is organizing the Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Volleyball League from today at the Paltan Volleyball Stadium.

A total of 10 teams will take part in the league when the reigning champions Titas Club will take on Bangladesh Police AC in the opening day, while runners-up Water Development Board will play against Wari Club next day.

This time also the participating teams are allowed to field three foreign players in a match and the clubs are trying to rope in Afghanistan players while they will not get Indian and Nepalese players as they are busy with their domestic competitions.

Last year BVF organised the Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship with the participation of five teams and the hosts Bangladesh clinched the title. It was  first-ever international volleyball title won by Bangladesh when they defeated Kyrgyzstan in the final.

General secretary of the BVF, Ashikur Rahman Miku, stated in a press conference yesterday held at the Dutch Bangladesh Auditorium, at BOA that Ali Pour Aroji of Iran, who guided Bangladesh team last year will be appointed as the Bangladesh coach this time also.

“The Premier Division league is good stage for all players to show their potential to draw the attraction of our selection committee when they will make a 32-member preliminary squad and the foreign coach will pick up the final squad from.”
