BSMMU to launch 24-hour lab services today
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), country's premier Postgraduate Medical Institution, is going to introduce 24-hour laboratory services to fulfill emergency needs of critical patients.
“We will expand our lab services for 24 hours from today to meet the emergency need of critical patients," BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan told BSS yestedray.
“We are expanding the services with our existing resources where a patient, even who will not be admitted to the hospital, can take the lab services whenever he/she requires,” he said.
The lab would submit the diagnosis reports to the respective patients within two hours of conducting tests, said the VC.

Nahid leaves for Paris to join UNESCO conference
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid left Dhaka Saturday night for Paris to join 39th general conference of UNESCO.
The minister will deliver his address at the conference today, an official release said yesterday, adding he will attend different sessions and meetings of the 39th general conference of UNESCO.
The minister is scheduled to return home on November 11. Man arrested with 31 gold bars
A man was arrested with 31 gold bars weighing around 3.430 kg from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday.
The arrestee is identified as Siddique, of Bancharampur upazila in Brahmanbaria.
Siddique came from Riyadh and landed at the airport around 6:00 pm.
Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Moinul Khan said a customs team challenged him and recovered the gold bars from his bag.
They also recovered 15 Ampoules of Diclofenacfrom his procession, he said.

CPA secretary general meets Speaker
Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Secretary General Akbar Khan today paid a courtesy call on Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker and Chairperson of the CPA executive committee Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office in Dhaka.
During the meeting, they discussed about the overall preparations centering the upcoming 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) scheduled to be held in Dhaka on November 1-8 , said an official release here.
It is a prestigious thing for Bangladesh to organise the CPA conference in Dhaka, the speaker said, adding that all preparations have already been completed in this regard.

Juba Dal rally foiled in Barisal
Police postponed procession of  Juba Dal protesting ‘attack’ on the BNP chief’s convoy of on the way to Cox Bazar at Feni on Saturday.
 Following the scheduled of central committee district and city unit of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal jointly organized the programme yesterday morning in front of BNP office at Sadar road of the city.
  The programme was presided over by city Jubo Dal vice president Kamrul Hasan Ratan and addressed among others by Masud Hasan Mamun, Monirul ahsan Monir, Saddad Hossain and Aminul Islam Polash.
After the end of the meeting they tried to brought out a procession about 11:45am from the same venue.
When the procession tried to entering sadar road police stopped them.
